Closed captions facility in Figshare's video player

Video players like YouTube, Kaltura and Panopto have a closed captions function whereby they generate to enhance accessibility. Non-native speakers of the language in question or people watching in noisy environments may also benefit from this feature.

Figshare's video player doesn't offer closed captions, meaning it doesn't meet the standards of the UK Accessibility Regulations and may appears somewhat dated compared to other platforms.

Systems like YouTube's speech recognition technology are no doubt expensive, but can Figshare offer something like Panopto does? Perhaps a third party system can be integrated?

Workarounds like us inviting the user to request a transcript or accessible version are possible, but not ideal for the user and the manual nature of these tasks can mean they are time-consuming.
