As described in the attached thread, users should be able to attach multiple licenses to datasets, pertaining to the various rights of each file in the set.

File-level licencing and metadata is currently on our radar, but not something being considered for 2017. Early 2018 is a realistic estimate for beginning work on this.

Has this progressed at all?

Thanks

Hi Kate,

It's progressed in design and specification but no development progress at all. It's a mammoth task and I've not been able to schedule.

Dear Figshare,

Is licensing on file level of an item still a functionality that is being considered? It doesn`t seem to be planned in the Roadmap

This feature would considerable facilitate the possibility for being legally compliant e.g. in cases where researchers wish to publish data and code together in the same item. We currently encourage to publish in separate items in order to attach appropriate licenses to the different outputs and then gather it in a collection, which is a good option but in some cases also not ideal.

Hi Signe,

Yes, its definitely still on our agenda, it just that it requires significant work before it to allow it to be completed. This is not something we'll be able to tackle any time soon, but it's a very strong wish to realise as soon as we can.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the update. Good to know that it is still on the agenda. We look forward to the day it becomes a reality. Thank you for all the great work you do.
